Here I am testing the compressor clutch solenoid for continuity and actuation. First I test the solenoid for an ohms reading using continuity setting on Multimeter
Then I use the amp setting at 10 amps to test the clutch for operation see below
Quick tour of the compressor
So first i connect meter set to ohms between the electrical connector and the body of the compressor, as the compressor is earthed via the engine hence while only 1 wire.
Good continuity and good ohms reading showing a healthy solenoid coil
Now I connect the negative to body of compressor if yours is fitted you will not need to do this as it will be earthed via engine
Connect leads for 10 amp current reading
now connect negative black lead of meter to the positive post
Then carefully as the + positive cable end is now 12v live
touch the end cable termination to provide 12v power though the clutch solenoid and you should also get the amperage current
measurement being used by the clutch actuation and here the clutch click as well
